Top picks from the 2017 Asos Advent Calendar

Top picks from the 2017 Asos Advent Calendar

For the second year running, I bought the Asos Advent Calendar in 2017. I had found it a very good value for money last year and I think it was even better this year. Obviously amongst the 24 products that came in the calendar, there were some that I liked more than others and that's why I thought I would share my favourite ones.

Carmex moisturising Lip Balm

Cowshed Lippy Cow

I'm including these two together because they are obviously similar products. My lips gets so chapped in the winter that I cannot get out of the house without a lip balm. In fact I fact one in my bag, one on my desk at work and one on my dressing table. I was therefore very happy to find these two in the calendar, especially as they are so moisturising.

Will I buy the full size? The Carmex one is already a full size but I can see myself repurchasing it when it's finished since it's quite inexpensive. The Cowshed one was not a full size but I might purchase the full when it's finished.

Nip+Fab Exfoliate

Glycolic Fix Serum

This one almost did not make it in my favourite list because we had a rocky start. It was one of the first products that came in the calendar and because I'm impatient I started using it as soon as I got it. However I was feeling like it was making me break out after a few days of use. I went online and found reviews that were saying that the product could make you break out to start with as the glycolic acid was bringing all the dirt to the surface of the skin (in a very simplistic way of explaining it) but that you should persevere and the bad effects would disappear shortly. I carried on using it, every other night and I feel like my skin has cleared quite a bit.

Will I buy the full size? Well, well, well... I already have!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm

I already have on of these lip creams in Monte Carlo - a gorgeous red - so I was more than happy to have another colour. This one is a very nice nude colour that I have been wearing quite a bit since I've had it.

Will I buy the full size? I probably won't but this is not because this is a bad product. The only reason is that  already have way too many lip products!

Codage Scrubbing Cream

I have combination to oily skin with a tendency for break outs so I have to make sure that my skin is getting cleaned as well as it should. I often find that face scrubs are not gritty enough, I know that you should not go hard on your skin because that is more likely to cause break outs but I like feeling like a scrub is actually working. The point I am trying to make here is that this scrub feels like it's actually something good to my skin!

Will I buy the full size? I am not sure that I will as the full size is £39! The product is very good but if I am going to splurge on a beauty / skincare item I am not sure that my first choice would be a scrubbing cream.

Forea Luna Play

Last but not least, Asos did not disappoint on door number 24. I was really impressed that this item - priced at £29 - made its way into a calendar worth £55. There are bloggers and Youtubers that I had heard talk about the Foreo Luna and they were giving it ever so good reviews so I was really excited when I found out that I was going to be able to try it out for myself. I have been using for a couple of weeks now and so far I am really happy with it. I think this might need another review further down the line as it is quite hard to judge a skincare item after only a couple of weeks.

Will I buy the full size? Technically this one is a full size of its model, the Luna Play. It also comes in bigger sizes that you can recharge. The Luna Play is said to last up to 100 uses and is not rechargeable. I think that if I am really happy with the result of the smaller size I might upgrade to the bigger size that you can recharge as I am not really on board with a disposable device. I will be sure to keep you updated if I do buy the bigger size one day!
